Built Different: DGR Welcomes Emery Glove Co. Bringing Premium Gloves to the Bay Area

Now Carrying Emery Glove Co.

We don't add a new brand to the shop lightly. Every glove that comes through Diamond Glove Revival gets evaluated by the same standards we hold our own work to. We look at the leather, construction, lacing, feel, and all the little details that separate a good glove from a great one.

So when we decided to start carrying a small, carefully selected lineup of new gloves alongside our restoration, relacing, and break in services, Emery Glove Co. was an easy choice.

Who is Emery Glove Co.?

Emery is a newer name in the glove world, but they're already making a name for themselves, including on MLB fields. They build high performance gloves as well as fully custom, one of one builds for players who want something that feels like their glove, not just another pattern pulled off the shelf.

Their philosophy is simple: Pursue Mastery.

That idea really fits with what we believe at DGR. Whether you're working on your game or working on a glove, there is always another detail you can improve.

One of the things that immediately stood out to us about Emery is their leather selection. Their Japanese Kip is exactly what you want to see in a premium glove. It has a tight grain, great feel, breaks in beautifully, and is built to last. Emery also offers U.S. Kip and premium cowhide depending on the feel and structure a player is looking for.

Then there is the Cordura.

Emery uses Cordura backing on select models, bringing a material into the ball glove world that you simply don't see very often. It helps reduce weight while adding durability to the back of the glove, without taking away from the leather where it matters most: the palm and pocket.

And the gloves just look good.

The color combinations, stitching, leather choices, and finishing details give Emery gloves their own identity. You can tell someone actually thought about how the finished glove was going to look and feel instead of simply putting another logo on a familiar pattern.

The Craftsmen Behind the Gloves

Another reason Emery caught our attention is how their gloves are made.

Emery gloves are made right here in the USA.

In a glove market where so much production has moved overseas, that immediately stood out to us. Emery takes a much more hands on approach, building gloves with attention to the leather, pattern, stitching, lacing, and all the small details that ultimately determine how a glove feels and performs.

Their custom gloves are built from scratch around the player's selections. You choose the leather, colors, web, stitching, and details to create something that is genuinely your own.

That's something we really appreciate at DGR.

We spend a lot of time taking gloves apart, rebuilding them, relacing them, reshaping them, and figuring out why certain gloves hold up better than others. When you work with gloves that closely, you start noticing the little things.

Those details matter.

Emery is an American founded company built by people who understand the game, and their gloves are made here in the United States. Pair that with premium leathers from around the world and Tennessee Tanning Company laces, and you get a glove that feels different from the typical mass produced option.

That commitment to the craft is a big reason we felt comfortable putting the DGR name behind Emery.

Why We're Bringing Emery to the Bay Area

One of the biggest problems with boutique glove companies is simply getting your hands on one.

There are some incredible gloves being made today, but if you're in Northern California, your options for actually seeing and feeling them before buying can be pretty limited. A lot of the time you're ordering a glove online, waiting for it to arrive, and hoping the pattern, leather, and fit are what you expected.

We want to help change that.

DGR already works with gloves every day. We clean them, condition them, relace them, reshape them, break them in, and bring old gloves back to life.

Adding Emery gives Bay Area players another option when they're ready for something new.

More importantly, we're not just selling you a glove and sending you on your way. We can help with the break in, talk through patterns and leather options, keep the glove maintained, replace laces when the time comes, and help take care of it for years after you buy it.

That's the kind of relationship we want DGR to have with players and their gloves.

For DGR, this is the beginning of something we've wanted to do for a while.

We're not trying to fill a wall with every glove we can get our hands on. We want to carry a small, deliberate selection of gloves and brands that we would actually use ourselves and feel comfortable recommending to our customers.

Emery was the obvious place to start.
